Synopsis of CV:
Ghi is a world class veteran that has performed in over 3000 shows and exhibitions around the world. She enjoys pushing the boundaries of the dance form, and has worked on dance that revolves around identity and authenticity. Together with partner, Guillermo Merlo, she won the 1999 World Argentine Tango Championship. Ghi was nominated to be one of the esteemed judges at Buenos Aires’ El Mundial de Tango in 2018 and 2019.
For over 30 years, Ghi has trained amateur and professional tango dancers and teachers. With a solid base anchored in the fundamental principles and the essence of the genre, Ghi’s teaching involves carefully designed curriculums and a clear and effective methodology.
Fernanda maintains that tango is based on three fundamental pillars:
- a clear definition of the partners’ roles;
-a constant and active embrace; and -a common axis of the dancing couple.
The starting point is the music, which determines the dynamics of expression, and thus creates a “style”, but the “style” is never the starting point.
A clear understanding of the mechanics ensures that no undue stress is placed on the body and each movement is a response to a partner’s movement.
The Tango that Fernanda teaches is based on a deep understanding of the essence of the dance, and allows each student to find their own personal manner of expression, without losing the universal language of Tango and the culture from which it comes.

Tango Voodoo 2022 in NOLA

Join us this Halloween Weekend, October 28-30, 2022, for 3 nights packed with fun and tango in one of the most exciting cities in the World.
New Orleans is home to hot jazz, spicy food, and fascinating history. Early in the 20th century, the scandalous dance was so hot in the city that part of the French Quarter was known as “The Tango Belt,” a red light district where brothels and tango salons lined the streets. Buenos Aires and New Orleans were connected as two of the New World’s largest ports. The Big Easy was a mix of cultures where you could find luxuries from anywhere in the world and maybe the ultimate love potion from a voodoo priestess.
Times have changed, and tango has moved from the brothels and backstreets to the most elegant venues in town and thrives thanks to our great local tango promoters. Voodoo still draws visitors to New Orleans. Don’t forget to include a little dark magic with your tango voodoo marathon experience.
